NORTHAMPTON FAMILY,

It has been an exciting and busy few weeks at Northampton! Our students have been working incredibly hard in their classrooms, and it has been wonderful to see the level of engagement, curiosity, and creativity happening across the building. From hands-on STEAM activities to thoughtful discussions and collaborative learning, our Colts continue to impress us with their dedication and growth. Our teachers have been planning meaningful and engaging lessons, and the energy in classrooms has been amazing to see.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our recent events. Cowgirls and Coffee, the Hoedown for Go Texan Day, and our recent Spirit Nights were wonderful opportunities to come together as a community. Events like these help strengthen the special culture we have here at Northampton, and we appreciate your continued support.

We’re also excited that the Book Fair is happening this week! This is always a favorite event for our students and a great way to encourage a love of reading. Be sure to stop by during lunch and check it out if you have the chance.

Looking ahead, we are excited for our upcoming school picnic and hope to see many of you there. It will be another great opportunity to celebrate our Colts community together.

As we approach Spring Break, we hope all of our families have a wonderful and restful time. Thank you for everything you do to support our school and your students’ success. We look forward to finishing the semester strong when everyone returns!

With Colt Pride,
Lisa Mackey
Principal, Northampton Elementary

Northampton Family Picnic 🧺

We’re excited to invite our Colts families to our Family Picnic on March 13th! This is a fun opportunity to enjoy lunch together and spend time as a school community.

Picnic Times

PK–2: 11:00–11:45

3–5: 11:15–12:00
(The groups will overlap for about 30 minutes so families with students in different grade levels can enjoy lunch together.)

Important Reminders

Parent check-in begins at 10:30 by the GYM (back gate area). Please do not check in through the front office.

RSVP by March 11 at 3:00 using the link/QR code on the flyer.

Playgrounds will be closed during lunchtime.

Feel free to bring blankets, chairs, or towels to relax and enjoy the picnic.

Bring a game or two to play together.

For safety, siblings from other Klein ISD schools will not be allowed to attend.

Food will be available through our PFO partners, with pre-orders available for Fajita Pete’s and Jeremiah’s Italian Ice, and pizza available for purchase on-site. All food sales benefit our Northampton PFO.

We can’t wait to see our Colts families there for a great time together! 🌟

Celebration Parade

We are excited to begin a new Northampton tradition that will take place every 9 weeks — our Celebration Parade!

On March 27th at 8:45 AM, students who earned Quarter 3 recognitions will participate in a parade along the sidewalk, proudly displaying their awards. These recognitions celebrate academic achievement, strong attendance, and the core values that guide our Colts every day.

We invite our Northampton families to come out and celebrate with us!
👏 Parents are welcome to line the sidewalk and cheer on our students as we recognize the amazing accomplishments happening across our campus.

As part of this new tradition, each 9 weeks two students from every class will be selected to earn the coveted Northampton yard sign. This special recognition highlights students who truly exemplify our core values and what we stand for at Northampton through their actions, leadership, and character.

We can’t wait to celebrate the success of our Colts together and continue building a culture where hard work, character, and excellence shine.

Texas Promise Academy – Virtual Program in Fall 2026

Texas Promise Academy, a new tuition-free virtual school for students in grades 6–12, will launch in Fall 2026, offering flexible learning options to students across the state of Texas while maintaining the high-quality education families expect from Klein ISD.

Students can choose from three pathways designed to fit different learning needs:
• Full-Time Virtual – a flexible online learning experience that allows students to work at their own pace.
• Flex Scheduling – primarily online learning with the option to take 1–3 in-person classes at their Klein ISD campus, including athletics, fine arts, or CTE.
• Supplemental Online Courses – additional virtual courses available outside the regular school day to accelerate learning or recover credit.

Applications for Klein ISD students are open through March 31, 2026.

Families interested in learning more are invited to attend a Virtual Information Session to explore program options and the application process

KEF 5K & Kids’ Fun Run 🏃‍♂️

There is also a special incentive for elementary schools:

🥇 1st place (most registered racers): $1,000

🥈 2nd place: $500

🥉 3rd place: $250

We would love to see our Colts families come out to run, walk, and support our school community. Stay tuned for more details!

STAAR DATES

STAAR testing is coming soon and we’re proud of the progress our students have made this year. As the dates approach, please support your child by encouraging a good night’s sleep, a healthy breakfast, and calm, on-time mornings. A positive, reassuring attitude at home helps students feel confident and focused—remind them that effort and growth matter more than a single score.

We appreciate your partnership in helping students do their best. If you have questions or need support, please reach out.

Food Drive to Support Klein Oak NHS 🥫

Northampton will be supporting a food drive in partnership with Klein Oak’s National Honor Society (NHS) to benefit the Bridging for Tomorrow Food Pantry. This pantry supports low-income families in the Houston area, including students and senior citizens who rely on these resources.

Spring is a time when the pantry’s supplies often run low, but the need in our community remains high. We would love for our Colts families to help us make a difference by donating non-perishable food items throughout the week.

Every donation helps support families in need and shows the power of our community working together. Thank you for helping our Colts support others and give back! 💙🥫

SWAG DAYS

Friday = Swag Day! Wear your Northampton gear every Friday to show your school spirit—tees, hoodies, hats, or anything with our horseshoe "N." It’s the perfect way to celebrate our school pride, connect with friends, and make the hallways pop with blue and gold.

Tip: Label your swag so it doesn't end up in Lost & Found. See you repping Northampton!

Swag Day Poem — Short & Sweet

Swag on Friday, colors bright,
Horseshoe "N"—wear it with pride.
Tees and hoodies, caps held high,
Blue and gold beneath our sky.

Snap a smile, share a cheer,
Friends together, spirit near.
Label your things—keep them found;
Swag Day brings our hearts around.

DRESS CODE

Please review our dress code expectations to help keep school focused and respectful. Clothing or accessories that are distracting, disruptive, or revealing are not permitted—this includes items that are too short, low‑cut, see‑through, backless, or styled like underwear worn as outerwear. Blankets or other items that cause distraction should also stay at home.

A quick reminder: smart watches and similar devices must follow school rules—please check the Klein Student Handbook for specific details.

If the principal determines that a student’s grooming or clothing violates the school’s dress code, the student will be given an opportunity to correct the problem at school and return to the classroom. If the problem cannot be corrected at school, the principal will work with the student and parent to obtain an acceptable change of clothing for the student in a way that minimizes loss of instructional time. Repeated or severe offenses may result in more serious disciplinary action in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.

LOST AND FOUND

Our Lost & Found is overflowing with jackets, hats, gloves, water bottles, glasses, and more. With colder weather here, please remind your child to check for missing outerwear and personal items when they return to school.

Encourage students to label belongings and to stop by the Lost & Found soon — items not claimed after a reasonable time will be donated. Thank you for helping us keep students warm and prepared!

Principal’s Award

We’re thrilled to celebrate the Principal’s Award — an honor given to a student who consistently goes above and beyond with leadership, integrity, and heart. This recognition spotlights a Colt who models excellence in both action and attitude, inspires classmates, and raises the bar for our whole school community.

Receiving the Principal’s Award is a big deal: it recognizes dedication, celebrates character, and gives the student a memorable moment of pride. We can’t wait to honor deserving students and share their success with you.

Birthday Sign

Celebrate your student on our outdoor marquee! For $25, we’ll display a birthday announcement for one week. Announcements are available through School Cash and require at least two weeks’ notice.

Give your child a neon‑bright moment to shine—perfect for making their day extra special!

ID REMINDERS

At Northampton, the safety of our Colts always comes first!

Please remember that all visitors must show a photo ID at the door every time you come to campus—even if we already know you. Additionally, for everyone’s safety, please do not allow anyone else to enter with you. Each visitor must check in at the door and show their own ID before entering. These important steps help us keep every student safe and ensure we are following district safety procedures.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us maintain a secure learning environment for our students!

ATTENDANCE COUNTS

Attendance matters because every day in school is an opportunity to learn, grow, and build connections. When students are present, they gain essential skills, keep up with lessons, and stay on track academically. Consistent attendance also helps students develop responsibility, routines, and a sense of community with classmates and teachers. Even a few missed days can make it harder to keep up, so being at school every day ensures students don’t miss out on learning, friendships, and all the experiences that make school meaningful. If you are unable to make it to school, please see the directions for uploading your absence into Skyward so it is properly recorded.

CAR RIDER SAFETY REMINDER

This is a friendly but important reminder about our morning carpool safety procedures. The safety of our students is always our top priority, and we need everyone’s help to ensure arrival runs smoothly and safely for all.

Please do not allow students to exit the vehicle before reaching the designated cone area. Letting students out early — even if traffic is moving slowly — creates unsafe conditions for children and staff. Our team is positioned strategically at the cones to supervise and assist students safely onto campus.

Additionally, please do not move your vehicle forward until you are directed to do so by a staff member. Sudden movement or pulling around other cars can create dangerous situations for students who may be walking nearby.

We know mornings can feel rushed, and we truly appreciate your patience and cooperation. These procedures are in place strictly for student safety, and when everyone follows them, carpool moves efficiently and safely for all Colts.
