Kuehnle Chronicle Family Newsletter

February Edition

  Kuehnle Families,

As we step into the month of February, we are excited to continue the incredible momentum we’ve built together at Kuehnle. Our focus remains on the goals we’ve set for a strong and successful 2025–2026 school year and on providing high levels of support for our Kuehnle Koalas.

February is a busy and joyful month on our campus! We look forward to Spring Pictures, celebrating National School Counselor Week, the 100th Day of School, February Mid-Winter Break, Benchmark testing, the Kuehnle Gifted and Talented Showcase, and our much-loved annual Kuehnle Hoedown. Each of these moments reflects the learning, growth, and strong sense of community that make Kuehnle such a special place.

Thank you for your continued trust, partnership, and support. We are grateful to work alongside you as we help our students learn, grow, and thrive.

With gratitude and Koala Pride,
Jennifer Elbert
Principal, Kuehnle Elementary 🐨

Valentine's Exchange February 6

Our Koalas are excited to celebrate Valentine’s Day in their classrooms on Friday, February 6th. Students will have the opportunity to exchange Valentines with their classmates.

If your child would like to participate, please ensure they bring a Valentine for every student in their class. To keep our celebration safe for all, please do not send food items or candy for distribution.

We’ll be decorating Valentine bags at school, so no need to send one from home. Thank you for your support in making this a fun and memorable celebration for our students!

Counselor's Corner

A big shout out to Mrs. Villarreal, our Kuehnle Counselor, as we enter National School Counseling Week. She works tirelessly to ensure our Koalas feel safe, supported, and valued. Whether she is guiding students through big feelings, partnering with families, collaborating with teachers, or advocating for what’s best for kids, her impact is felt across every corner of our school.

Mrs. Villarreal’s compassion, supportive presence, and unwavering dedication make a difference every single day. Kuehnle is a stronger, kinder, and more connected school because of her.

Please join us in celebrating and thanking Mrs. Villarreal for the incredible work she does for our students, families, and staff. We are so grateful to have her as part of our Kuehnle family! 🐨💙

The Importance of Regular School Attendance

At Kuehnle, strong attendance is one of the most important ways families can support student success. When students are well, we ask that they attend school every day and for the full instructional day.

Research shows that missing just 10% of the school year (about 18 days)—often called chronic absenteeism—can significantly impact learning. Elementary students who miss this much school are more likely to struggle with reading by third grade, and these challenges can affect long-term academic success.

Because learning is sequential, especially in the elementary years, each day of instruction matters. Consistent attendance helps students build strong routines, stay connected to learning, and develop confidence in the classroom.

Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to helping our Kuehnle Koalas grow, learn, and thrive.

Lunch Visitor Procedures

To ensure a safe and structured environment, only a student’s parents, grandparents, legal guardians, or family may visit and have lunch with their child.

Students may not have lunch with another student’s parent, grandparent, or guardian, even with parental permission.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students safe!

School-Aged Lunch Visitors

We truly appreciate seeing our former students, but we must firmly request that intermediate and high school students not visit Kuehnle during lunch. Attendance is crucial, and we wholeheartedly support the initiatives of other campuses in this regard. If a student is unable to attend their own school due to health issues, it is important for them to stay home for their own well-being. Our priority is to ensure the health and safety of all our Koalas.
