Student Arrival

Bus Riders

All bus riders will be dropped off in the bus parking lot with the opportunity to eat breakfast. Please do not use the bus parking lot to drop off or pick up students. Bus parking lot is a reserved area for our buses only.

Not sure which bus your student will ride? Click here to find Bus Information.

Car Riders

To maximize student safety, student car rider drop off in the morning will take place in the front of the school. No cars will be allowed to drop off in any other areas, other than the coned area in the front of the building. Students will only be allowed to exit the vehicle next to the curb. The outside lane in the front of the building will be for drivers to pull out into the left hand lane to go around and exit. All students who are car riders will enter the building using the designated front doors beginning at 8:30 am. Students who are dropped off at school prior to 8:30 will be unsupervised as staff duty begins at 8:30 am.

Once students enter the building at 8:30 am, they may either eat breakfast in the cafeteria or go to their designated area and wait until the bell rings. No student will be permitted to a classroom unless they have a Tutorials pass.

The designated areas are as follows:

• 6th and 7th Grade: In the main gym

• 8th Grade: In the cafeteria

Student Dismissal

All students will be dismissed at the 4:15 pm bell.

Bus Riders

All bus riders will access their buses through the bus parking lot located off the cafeteria. Students should sit at the table designated for their bus number and watch the Bus Dismissal slide deck. When their bus arrives, students will exit the cafeteria and board safely.

Not sure which bus your student will ride? Click here to find Bus Information.

Car Riders

Car riders will exit through the front of the building and wait to be picked up in the designated, coned-off area at the front of the school. To maximize student safety, no vehicles may pick up students in any other locations. Students may only enter vehicles from the curbside lane. The outside lane in front of the building is reserved for drivers pulling into the left-hand lane to go around and exit. Students not picked up by 4:30 pm will be without supervision.

Dress Code

We will be following the Klein ISD dress code as outlined in the Student Handbook.

We appreciate your support in ensuring that all students adhere to our dress code. Please ensure that students come to campus dressed appropriately. Shirts should be long enough to cover midriffs, and skirts and shorts should not be too short or revealing and should remain at the appropriate length throughout the day. Clothing should stay within dress code without needing adjustments after moving. Additionally, please remember that holes in pants should not excessively revealing, and no undergarments should be exposed. Leggings or shorts may be worn underneath pants to cover exposed areas. Shirts with inappropriate language or references to alcohol or drugs are not allowed. We kindly ask that you talk with your students about selecting clothing that stays in dress code throughout the day. Thank you for your cooperation!

Students will be assigned the following consequences for not meeting expectations:

• 1st Offense: Warning

• 2nd and 3rd Offenses: Lunch detention

• 4th Offenses +: ISS

Attendance and Tardies

Attendance

The academic success of EVERY student at Hofius Intermediate is extremely important to us. Daily school attendance and arriving to each class on time are critical for your student's success. We ask that you be diligent in monitoring your student for regular school attendance. Arriving to school late or leaving early may count as an absence for that class period. You can help in the following ways:

Speak to your child about the importance of attendance and arriving to school on time every day.

Post the school calendar, and plan your vacations and appointments outside of school time.

Regularly monitor your child's attendance through Klein ISD's Family Access (Skyward).

Report absences to the school in a timely manner. Within five days of returning to school, a student who is absent because of a personal illness must bring a statement from a parent, doctor, or health clinic verifying the illness or condition that caused the student’s absence from school.

Communicate with the campus regarding any attendance concern.

Tardies

Our expectation is for our Hofius students to be in class on time and prepared and ready to learn. Students are tardy to class if they arrive after the tardy bell. Students are subject to disciplinary action for tardiness. If students arrive to class after 15 minutes, then the student is marked ABSENT and is subject to additional disciplinary action. Tardies reset every three weeks.

Students will be assigned the following consequences for not meeting expectations:

• 1st and 2nd Offenses: Warnings

• 3rd Offense: Warning and parent phone call home

• 4th Offense: Before School Detention or 2 days of lunch detention

• 5th Offense: In School Suspension

Tardies will begin to count the week of August 24th to allow students ample time to find their classes and develop a routine to get to class on time.

Student Check In and Check Out

Students arriving late to school must check in at the attendance office and obtain a pass before heading to class. For early dismissals, parents are asked to notify the attendance secretary by 2:00 p.m. Both the student and parent must sign out at the attendance office before leaving campus.

All transportation changes must be submitted to the Grade Level Assistant Principal's Secretary by 2:00 PM.

School Meals

Students must use their ID badge for all cafeteria transactions. Scanning their badge allows the system to track account activity, giving parents access to a detailed record of items purchased. This process also helps speed up the lunch line, making it more efficient for everyone.

• Intermediate Breakfast: $1.75

• Intermediate Lunch: $3.00

Click here to add money to your student's School Cafe account.

Lunch Drop Off

Parents may drop off lunch for their child only; sharing outside food with other students is not permitted. Please ensure you are aware of your child’s lunch period so they have enough time to pick up their lunch from the front office and eat during their designated lunch time. Deliveries from UberEats, DoorDash, or any other food delivery service are not allowed.

Lunch Schedule:

• A Lunch: 11:18 am - 11:48 pm

• B Lunch: 11:51 pm - 12:21 pm

• C Lunch: 12:24 pm - 12:54pm

Safety and Security

Please help us maintain a safe environment by following all visitor procedures during your time on campus.

Attention! Important Safety Reminders

• Please wait to be buzzed in after presenting your ID

• Do NOT hold doors open for anyone

• Ensure doors close immediately & completely after entering & exiting buildings

Doorbell & Access Instructions

Upon arrival, all visitors must

• Ring the doorbell buzzer

• Identify themselves and state the purpose of their visit

• Present a valid government-issued ID

If access is granted, visitors must

• Enter through the front reception office

• Check in before proceeding to any other area of the school

• Wear the provided visitor badge visibly at all times

• Return the visitor badge to the front office upon departure

Thank you for supporting the safety & well-being of our school community!
