Fueling Our Teachers, Fueling Student Success

On Thursday, our staff enjoyed a surprise visit from the Strack Snack Cart, delivering drinks and treats to brighten their day. Just as our teachers pour their energy into creating engaging lessons and providing the very best instruction for students, we love finding ways to take care of them, too. A little snack goes a long way in keeping our Cougar family fueled and ready to give their best each day! If you would like to support this effort, we would be happy to accept donations of prepackaged snacks or drinks dropped off at the front office to add to our next staff treat day.

Dress Code Reminder (Repeated Info)

Cougar Families, we’ve noticed more students arriving out of dress code—especially with midriffs showing and holes in shorts/jeans/pants that are too high. Please help us by making sure your child is in dress code before leaving home each morning.

Students not in dress code will be asked to correct the issue or have a change of clothes brought to them. You can review the full guidelines here 👉 HANDBOOK (pages 77).

Thank you for partnering with us to keep our Cougars focused on learning! ❤️🐾

Picture Day Purchases/ Retakes (Repeated Info)

All students in attendance on Tuesday September 2nd took Fall pictures. If you would like to purchase your students pictures, you may do so on the LifeTouch website. The Picture ID is EVTMMC34N. Picture retakes will take place on October 21st. This will be for students that were absent, or whos parents would like a retake for purchase. Please inform your student if they should take a new picture as not all students will be called down during retakes.

Updated Personal Communication Device Procedure for 2025-26 (Repeated Info)

Starting with the 2025–2026 school year, a new Texas state law (House Bill 1481) prohibits students from using personal communication devices—such as phones, smartwatches, earbuds, and tablets—during the instructional day while on school grounds. Devices must be turned off and stored out of sight in a backpack or bag from the first bell to the end of the school day, including during passing periods, lunch, and recess.

Violations require disciplinary action. Families are encouraged to discuss this law with their children before the first day of school on August 13th. Schools will also review expectations and consequences with students to support a focused and positive learning environment.

Strack Cell Phone/Device Consequences (Repeated Info)

As a reminder, in compliance with new Texas law HB 1481, all devices must remain put away during the school day. Repeated offenses will result in escalating consequences:

  • 2nd Offense – Device turned in, consequence may include lunch detention or after-school detention, parent contacted. Student may pick up device from the admin office at the end of the day.

  • 3rd Offense – Device turned in, one day of ISS, parent contacted. Parent/guardian must pick up the device from the front office during school hours.

  • 4th Offense & Beyond – Device turned in, consequence may range from 2 days ISS up to DAEP placement, parent contacted. Parent/guardian must pick up the device from the front office during school hours.

Thank you for helping us maintain a focused learning environment!

Tardy Procedures (Repeated Info)

  • 1-3: Warning

  • 4: Lunch Detention

  • 5: One Hour After School Detention

  • 6: Two Hours After School Detention

  • 7+ ISS (The number of days is determined by AP)

Family Curriculum Guides

(Repeated Info)

To help our families stay connected to what is going on, we want to share with a link to the KISD Curriculum Guide. This provides and overview of the instruction that students receive as we teach the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). This information includes questions you can ask your child and ways you can support their learning at home. Support at home is a critical piece of our students' success.
