🌟Back to School Edition🌟

Dear Roth Families,

Welcome back to a brand-new school year at Roth Elementary—where every student is the author of their own learning journey!

We are thrilled to welcome you to the 2025–2026 school year, a year we’re calling “Once Upon a School…”—a theme that celebrates the magic of learning, the power of imagination, and the unique story each child brings to our campus. Just like any great story, our school year will be filled with growth as we turn the page on a new chapter together.

At Roth, we believe that every student deserves to feel safe, inspired, and supported. Whether your child is joining us for the first time or returning to continue their story, our dedicated staff is ready to nurture their potential and guide them through adventures in academics and character-building.

Some exciting highlights this year include:

  • A continued focus on quality instruction in the classroom

  • Strengthened partnerships between families and educators

  • Enriched extracurricular and community events

  • And of course, new “chapters” in our students’ learning that build a lifelong love of reading, writing, and storytelling.

We invite you to be a part of this story with us—your involvement, encouragement, and collaboration make all the difference. Let’s work together to make this year a "bestseller" in the lives of our students.

Here’s to a year full of wonder, growth, and unforgettable moments. The first day of school is just the beginning…

Once upon a school… there was a place where children thrived, families felt welcome, and learning was magical.

Welcome back, and let the story begin!

Our story starts here,

Christin Murphy, principal

School Lunch Visitors

We will set up our students up for success in the cafeteria by teaching expectations and procedures throughout the lunch process for the first two weeks of school. Lunch time with their peers is a valuable time for your child. They will spend all year growing and cultivating their friendships.

We will begin allowing visitors for lunch on Tuesday, September 3, 2025. Thank you for your cooperation and support while we practice traffic flow in the cafeteria before this time. Parent lunch tables are now on the stage to allow more room for cafeteria tables and students. When you arrive for your lunch visit, please make your way directly to the stage and wait for your child to join you.

School Ends at 3:25 pm.

Front office hours: 7:45am-4:00 pm

Name tags will be provided and should be worn at all times by all visitors. Please use the main entrance (near the flagpole) to enter and exit the building.

Custody & Legal Guidelines In accordance with district policy, the school is not required to contact the managing conservator when a possessory conservator requests to review records or consult with a teacher.

Custody Documentation:
Please note that conflicts between parents must be resolved outside of the school setting.
Please assist us in the handling of custody related agreements. It is the responsibility of the parents/guardians to provide the registrar with a certified copy of the most recent court order affecting any individual's rights related to the child. For questions or concerns regarding custody, please contact our principal, Christin Murphy.

Early Dismissals & Transportation Changes

We want our Rams in school daily from arrival to dismissal to ensure they are getting the best instruction and build the foundational skills necessary for success; however, we understand that your children may need to attend appointments off campus. We ask that students are present for attendance checks which happen at 10 am. If you have any questions about attendance, please reach out to Andrea Hill, assistant principal.

All early dismissals must occur before 2:45p.m. If you need to pick your child up before the end of the school day, please contact the front desk at (832) 484-6600. Please come to the front office before the requested time of 2:45 pm to sign out your children. After 2:45 p.m. students will only be released following their normal dismissal routine. Additionally, we will not request your child until you arrive on campus. This procedure assures that students are missing the least amount of instructional time possible.

All changes to a child’s normal means of afternoon transportation must be received in the front office no later than 2:45 pm to allow time to inform the teacher before dismissal procedures begin. Changes will not be made directly through the teachers, as we cannot guarantee the messages are received. Please contact the main office for any changes.

Medication at School All medication—both prescription and over-the-counter—must be delivered to the clinic by a parent or guardian.

  • Prescription medications must be in the original container with the pharmacy label clearly showing the student’s name and dosage instructions. Most pharmacies will provide you with an extra bottle upon request.

  • Over-the-counter medications must include dosage instructions based on your child’s age or weight and can only be administered for up to two weeks without a doctor’s note.

  • Unused medication cannot be sent home with students. If you cannot pick up the medication personally, please arrange with the school nurse for another authorized adult to do so.

  • Please note: Vitamins, health supplements, and herbal remedies are not permitted to be administered at school.

Please contact our school nurse, Kalei Smith,  If you have any questions at (832) 484-6555

Arrival and Dismissal on Campus

School Hours:

School begins at 8:05 AM.
Students are tardy at 8:10 AM, and instruction begins promptly at that time. Students must be escorted in and from the building, once our staff leaves duty at 8:05. Dismissal begins at 3:25 pm.

Please ensure your child arrives on time each day to avoid missing valuable character and academic instruction. All students will receive a transportation tag. This tag must be presented when picking up your children unless they walk alone. Tags are printed and available in the front office for pick up at this time, or you may pick up at Meet the Teacher.

Refer to the map above for specific arrival and dismissal locations to support student safety and traffic flow.

Buses, daycare vans, and special transportation drop off and pick up in the side lot near the cafeteria only.

All car riders will use the front entrance at the flagpole and our fabulous NEW AWNING for both drop-off and pick-up. If you need a longer goodbye in the morning, please park in the front lot and walk your child to the door using the crosswalk. You will be asked to release them in the foyer so they can head to class.

Carpool Procedures: For morning drop-offs, please follow the directions of the staff members and drop your student off when the line stops. This helps to expedite the traffic flow. If you need a longer good-bye, please park in the parking lot and walk your student to the door using the crosswalk. You will be asked to release them from the foyer and our staff will assist them to class.

Pull forward to the cones and stay closely aligned with the car next to you.

Do not switch lanes, as this affects cone assignments and student pickup.

If turning left into the lot, stay in the outer lane (near the parking lot).

If turning right into the lot, use the inner lane (nearest the school).

Display your car tag clearly throughout the driveway, so all staff can match your child with the correct car. Without a displayed tag, you must park, show ID, and pick up your child from the front office. If your child is not at their cone, you may be asked to park so we can safely locate them.

PM Car loading runs from 3:25 to 3:45 PM. After 3:45, you will be asked to park and sign out your child from the front office. Our offices close at 4pm, and if you cannot collect your child before then, please consider our after school care-Koala Kare.

Please refrain from using your cell phone while in the carpool line-it is unlawful to use when operating a vehicle in a school zone.

Walkers must use crosswalks near the bike racks or at Temple Bell & Castlemont when arriving to campus and leaving campus. Parents and students will not be allowed walk through the parking lot or fire lane. Grade 2-5 walkers are expected to leave campus with a staff member to the area at the end of the bike racks or at Temple Bell crosswalk. PK-1 walkers will be dismissed to parents with a tag at the gate near the t-buildings. Please wait outside the fence to allow for smooth student movement and safety. Staff will escort walkers off campus.

Please do not park on both sides of Bridgemont (bike rack area) during arrival and dismissal. This blocks buses from exiting the parking lot and creates safety issues for crossing to and from the building safely.

Late Arrival & Pick-Up Procedures

Arrival after 8:05 AM: Please park and walk your child inside to the front office. Our teachers and staff will be in class supporting students after this time. You will need to complete a check-in form.

Pick-up after 3:50 PM: Please park and come to the front office. Bring your ID and sign your child out using our digital form. Children will not be released without proper identification.

Thank you for helping us keep students safe and our procedures efficient!

Great Expectations

Great Expectations at Roth

Roth Elementary is a Great Expectations Model school. This program helps students reach high levels of success, as we incorporate the Great Expectations model into our school culture. As we follow our Klein ISD vision of Promise 2 Purpose, Great Expectations is a perfect way to help ensure every student succeeds. The students will learn and practice the 8 Expectations for Living, displayed throughout the school and in your child’s classroom. The students will also learn valuable Life Principles (Character Traits) that they can use in their daily lives to be great citizens.

The 8 Great Expectations

  1. We will value one another as unique and special individuals.

  2. We will not laugh at or make fun of a person’s mistakes nor use sarcasm or putdowns.

  3. We will use good manners, saying, “please,” “thank you,” and “excuse me” and allow others to go first.

  4. We will cheer each other to success.

  5. We will help one another whenever possible.

  6. We will recognize every effort and applaud it.

  7. We will encourage each other to do our best

  8. We will practice virtuous living, using the Life Principles.

Visit the Great Expectations website for more information: Great Expectations Website

Student Tardies/Absences

School begins at 8:05 and the tardy bell rings at 8:10. Instruction begins at 8:05 and teachers are not on duty after this time. Students arriving after 8:05 will need to come in through the front doors with a parent. We appreciate your help with making sure all students arrive on time and safely. We encourage you to get your child to school on time every day to avoid missing character and academics our teachers provide from arrival to dismissal. Missed minutes add up quickly leading to gaps in learning! Students who are not in their seats at 10am will be counted absent for the day.

Images of technology that is not allowed during the instructional day

As we prepare for the start of the school year, we want to make sure our families are informed regarding a new state law, House Bill 1481, that was recently passed by the Texas Legislature.

Beginning with the 2025–2026 school year, this new state law prohibits students from using personal communication devices during the instructional day while on school grounds. This includes cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, earbuds, and any other device capable of digital or telecommunication.

What This Means for Our Students

Students may bring personal communication devices to school, but they must be turned off, out of sight, and stored away in their backpack, pocket, laptop sleeve, or other personal belongings while on school grounds from the first bell to the end of the instructional day, including during class, passing periods, lunch, and recess.

The law requires disciplinary consequences for the use of personal communication devices during the instructional day while on school grounds. Exceptions are provided for students covered under a Section 504 plan or an Individualized Education Program (IEP) that includes personal communication devices as an accommodation. Access will be permitted as outlined in their individual plans.

Communication and Support

The majority of our schools implemented similar personal communication device expectations for students last school year and found that their students were less distracted, resulting in more focused learning environments and increased positive face-to-face interactions for students and staff.

Prior to the first day of school, we encourage you to discuss this new Texas law with your children and emphasize the importance of focusing on learning throughout the school day. School leadership will also communicate to students the expectations and consequences for failing to keep personal communication devices off and out of sight when they return to school.

Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to ensure a positive, safe, and focused learning environment for all students.
