👋Message from Principal Wilson👋 |

Hello Mahaffey Families!
On Friday, February 6th, classes will be doing a small Valentine's Day card exchange. It is NOT required to participate, however, if you choose to do so, all students in the class must be included. Names are not required on cards. (If you would like the names, your student's homeroom teacher can provide a class list of first names). NO CANDY or FOOD items can be handed out.(Pencils, trinkets, stickers, and other small non-edible things are fine).
In February we have TELPAS testing for students who are identified as Emergent Bilingual (EB). TELPAS testing is for students in grades K-12 to monitor their progress in their development of the English language. In grades K-1, a student's teacher bases the students' score on classroom observations and student interactions. In grades 2-12, TELPAS is comprised of two online tests: one covers listening and speaking skills in English, and the second covers reading and writing skills in English.
TELPAS Testing Dates: February 24 and 26 March 3 and 5 Please see the link below for all TELPAS, Benchmark , and STAAR testing dates for this school year. TELPAS/STAAR Testing Calendar
Clinic Needing Clothing
We would also like to share a quick PSA regarding our campus clothing supply. Throughout December, we went through a significant amount of extra clothing to support students during the school day. Unfortunately, many of the items we lend out have not been returned, which limits our ability to help students when needed.
How you can help: *If your child was sent home with borrowed clothing (excluding underwear), please return those items to school upon your child's return.
*If you are cleaning out your child’s closet over the break and come across gently used clothing, we would greatly appreciate any donations. These items help us support students throughout the year.

Birthday Invitations
Parents may send invitations to teachers for distribution in the classroom. Please ensure you invite either the entire class, only boys, or only girls. We do not give out student phone numbers, home addresses, or other parent contact information.
Birthday Snacks While the use of non food rewards and celebrations is always preferred, Klein ISD acknowledges that there are instances when foods are used appropriately as part of instruction. Parents/guardians are allowed to provide a birthday snack for their child's birthday. The following guidelines apply to such snacks: |
The campus nurse will be given a two week advance written notice of the parent / guardian decision to provide food items to students with a list of ingredients.
In the case of commercially prepared food, the product label must be provided, including the complete ingredient list and all information about production line exposure to known food allergens.
All snacks must be individually wrapped and packaged in a disposable container. Schools will not be responsible for parents’ personal kitchen items. Thank you for your cooperation! |
| |
|
Medication at School: All medication—both prescription and over-the-counter—must be delivered to the clinic by a parent or guardian.
Prescription medications must be in the original container with the pharmacy label clearly showing the student’s name and dosage instructions.
Unused medication cannot be sent home with students. If you cannot pick up the medication personally, please arrange with the school nurse for another authorized adult to do so.
|
| |
|
| All student absences require a written excuse from a parent or guardian to be submitted via Skyward within 5 days of the student’s return to school.
How to Submit an Excuse Note:
Klein ISD's process for reporting absences is by entering the information in Skyward Family Access. For additional information about attendance, please click HERE

It is the responsibility of the parents/guardians to provide the school with a certified copy of the most recent court order affecting any individual's rights related to the child. For questions or concerns regarding custody, please contact: 📞 Mrs. Wilson (cwilson5@kleinisd.net) |
