Notes From The Nurse

A Fun Little Health Note from Your School Nurse!

Flu season is rolling in like it owns the place, so let’s team up and keep those sneaky germs from crashing our holidays!

Suds Up!
Handwashing is your child’s (and your) superpower. Soap + water = the dynamic duo that sends germs running. Aim for 20 seconds, hum a quick song, make bubbles, have some fun with it!

How Germs Spread (a.k.a. Germ Gossip!)
Germs LOVE family gatherings. Lots of hugs, shared snacks, and everyone touching the same things. They travel through coughs, sneezes, high-fives, and even that one cousin who double-dips.

Stay-Healthy Hacks for the Season

Wash those hands like you mean it

Cover coughs and sneezes with elbows, not hands

Wipe down handles, phones, and shared surfaces

And if someone isn’t feeling great, no shame in a cozy day at home

Let’s keep our school healthy and our holiday gatherings full of joy, not germs!

Just a few reminders…

No medication is to be brought to school by students (including cough drops and nasal sprays). If your child needs allergy medication, please medicate them the night before school or in the morning, before school. You can find more information about medications at the above link.

The clinic is in need of donations. We are needing shorts, leggings, t-shirts, and new underwear for those that have accidents at school.

We are also in need of rolls of paper towels. We appreciate you more than you know.

Attendance Counts

Creating an early pattern of regular attendance establishes attitudes and habits that will carry over into adult work habits. Inconsistent attendance results in falling behind in class work and class instruction making it difficult to catch up. Your child's success in school depends on having a solid educational background, one that can only be gained through regular school attendance. While some absences might seem more excusable, the impact is actually the same whether your child is sick, cutting class or taking a family trip. Some absences are unavoidable, but too many put your child at risk academically. Save absences for when it is absolutely necessary. If your child has been ill and has seen a physician for treatment, please remember to turn that note into your campus attendance office within five days of your child returning to school. If your child does not need medical attention but is out, please enter the excuse on your Family Access/Skyward account within five days of your child returning to school.

An important step toward student achievement (College & Career Readiness) is being at school every day. Attendance is critical to student academic success. In order to provide increased communication regarding attendance issues, Klein ISD works to provide prompt notification for parents when attendance issues arise in the Family Access/Skyward account.

Please contact our registrar Mrs. Stone with any questions at dstone1@kleinisd.net

Repeated or severe offenses may result in more serious disciplinary action in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
