Counselor News

We are excited to host our upcoming Career Day at school! This is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about different careers and hear directly from members of our community.

We would love for parents and guardians to volunteer to share about their jobs, careers, or special skills with our students. Presentations can be simple and fun—talking about what you do, how you help others, and what a typical day at work looks like.

If you are interested in participating, please let us know. Your time and experiences can inspire our students and help them explore future possibilities!

Please reach out if you have questions.

Notes From The Nurse

Lemm Clinic Website

Houston area pollen count

As the school year winds down, it’s time to think about next year.

In the coming weeks, I will be sending out action plans and medication authorizations for the 26-27 school year. Please have those ready to go prior to the first day of school (August 12). I will be here to accept your child’s medications and paperwork starting the week before school starts.  Please call or email to see when I am on campus.

Many students will need vaccinations over the summer. Contact us if you need any information about vaccines. Remember, all students must be current prior to the first day of school.

If you need anything over the summer break, please contact health services.

KISD medication policy

Medication that will be administered to a student during school hours must be provided by the student’s parent. All medication must be kept in the nurse’s office and administered by the nurse or another authorized district employee, unless the student is authorized to possess his or her own medication because of asthma or a severe allergy or as otherwise allowed by law. All medications must be brought to and picked up at the clinic by a parent or guardian, where it will be inventoried with the parent or guardian. Neither prescriptions or non-prescription medications from foreign countries will be administered. Non-prescription medication will only be administered for a time frame of two weeks. The remaining medication must be picked up by an adult, or it will be destroyed.

Klein ISD medication authorization

Klein ISD follows Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) communicable illness regulations. When your child is ill, please contact the school to let us know he or she will not be attending that day.

State rules require schools to exclude students with certain illnesses from school for certain periods of time. For example, if a child has a fever over 100 degrees, he or she must stay out of school until fever-free for 24 hours without use of fever-reducing medications. Students with diarrheal illnesses must stay home until they are diarrhea-free without use of diarrhea-suppressing medications for 24 hours.

A full list of conditions for which the school must exclude children can be obtained from the school nurse. A full list of the regulations can be found on the Klein ISD Health Services web page or at https://www.dshs.texas.gov/idcu/.

If a student becomes ill during the school day and the school nurse determines that the child should go home, the nurse will contact the parent.

Klein ISD nurses are employed to give immediate attention to school-related injuries and sudden illnesses that occur or are noticed during school hours. Nurses are not permitted to make a medical diagnosis on injuries or illnesses. Therefore, when medical questions arise, parents are always encouraged to contact their child’s health care provider.

Attendance Counts

Creating an early pattern of regular attendance establishes attitudes and habits that will carry over into adult work habits. Inconsistent attendance results in falling behind in class work and class instruction making it difficult to catch up. Your child's success in school depends on having a solid educational background, one that can only be gained through regular school attendance. While some absences might seem more excusable, the impact is actually the same whether your child is sick, cutting class or taking a family trip. Some absences are unavoidable, but too many put your child at risk academically. Save absences for when it is absolutely necessary. If your child has been ill and has seen a physician for treatment, please remember to turn that note into your campus attendance office within five days of your child returning to school. If your child does not need medical attention but is out, please enter the excuse on your Family Access/Skyward account within five days of your child returning to school.

An important step toward student achievement (College & Career Readiness) is being at school every day. Attendance is critical to student academic success. In order to provide increased communication regarding attendance issues, Klein ISD works to provide prompt notification for parents when attendance issues arise in the Family Access/Skyward account.

Please contact our registrar Mrs. Stone with any questions at dstone1@kleinisd.net

Dress Code

KISD Student Handbook

Repeated or severe offenses may result in more serious disciplinary action in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
