Notes From The Nurse

Cold & Flu Season Reminder

As the weather changes, so does the spread of seasonal illnesses like colds and the flu. Here are a few ways we can work together to keep our students healthy and ready to learn:

  • Get the Flu Vaccine: The flu shot is the best way to help protect your child and others around them.

  • Keep Sick Kids Home: If your child has a fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or is feeling too unwell to participate in class, please keep them home until they are symptom-free for at least 24 hours (without fever-reducing medicine).

  • Healthy Habits Help: Remind your child to wash their hands often, cover coughs and sneezes, and avoid sharing drinks or food with others.

Thank you for helping us keep our school a healthy place for all students!

  • Vaccinations: All student vaccinations must be current and submitted to the school no later than September 11. Students who do not have updated records on file may be excluded from school until requirements are met, as required by state guidelines.

  • Health Forms: Please be sure we have current information on file for your child, including allergies, chronic health conditions, emergency contacts, and any special health needs.

  • Medications at School: For the safety of all students, children may not carry or bring medication to school in backpacks, pockets, or lunchboxes. All medications must be delivered by a parent or guardian to the nurse’s office, and a current doctor’s order with a parent/guardian permission form is required before any prescription or over-the-counter medication can be administered.

  • Clinic Donations: Our clinic is currently accepting donations of gently used shorts and pants, new packages of underwear, and bottled water to help support students in need. Any contributions are greatly appreciated.

These steps help us provide the best care for your child and keep our school community healthy and supported. If your child will need medication or has a health condition that requires special attention, please contact me as soon as possible to make arrangements.

Thank you for your cooperation and partnership. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions—I’m here to help

Warm regards,
Debbie Rucker, RN

With the new communication app that we are now using in Klein, Lemm is working on setting up a “Parent Group-GT ” in the Klein app. This is to be able to directly communicate updates, information, and district links with you.  We hope you find it useful to also be able to directly message me or Mr Bolner back with questions about Gifted and Talented or Advanced Academics.

Attendance Counts

Creating an early pattern of regular attendance establishes attitudes and habits that will carry over into adult work habits. Inconsistent attendance results in falling behind in class work and class instruction making it difficult to catch up. Your child's success in school depends on having a solid educational background, one that can only be gained through regular school attendance. While some absences might seem more excusable, the impact is actually the same whether your child is sick, cutting class or taking a family trip. Some absences are unavoidable, but too many put your child at risk academically. Save absences for when it is absolutely necessary. If your child has been ill and has seen a physician for treatment, please remember to turn that note into your campus attendance office within five days of your child returning to school. If your child does not need medical attention but is out, please enter the excuse on your Family Access/Skyward account within five days of your child returning to school.

An important step toward student achievement (College & Career Readiness) is being at school every day. Attendance is critical to student academic success. In order to provide increased communication regarding attendance issues, Klein ISD works to provide prompt notification for parents when attendance issues arise in the Family Access/Skyward account.

Please contact our registrar Mrs. Stone with any questions at dstone1@kleinisd.net

Dress Code Enforcement

Repeated or severe offenses may result in more serious disciplinary action in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
