A Note from Our Principal ✨

Dear Kleb Families,

September has already been a wonderful month at Kleb! Our students are shining as they embrace our Kleb Core values of Respect, Integrity, Self-Control, and Empathy. These important character traits are guiding their learning and interactions every day.

We have just completed our Beginning of the Year MAP assessments in reading, math, and science, along with the initial 8th grade social studies assessment. These assessments give us a valuable baseline to understand each student’s strengths and areas for growth. With this information, our teachers are tailoring lessons to meet individual student needs and help each child reach their full potential.

An exciting part of our approach is that every student has a data tracker to take ownership of their learning. They set personal goals and monitor their progress throughout the year, fostering responsibility and motivation. We truly appreciate you partnering with us by taking time to talk with your child about their goals and celebrate their progress.

Thank you for your continued support in making Kleb a place where students grow academically and ingpersonally. Together, we are building a strong foundation for success!

We also invite you to join us for our Open House on Thursday, September 11, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. This will be a great opportunity for families to learn more about student life and learning at Kleb. Additionally, the book fair will be open during the Open House, providing a wonderful chance for students and families to explore and purchase books. We look forward to welcoming you!

Warm regards,

Spring Payne

Our volleyball teams showed great spirit this week! The 7th grade fought hard in a tough three-game series but came up just short. Meanwhile, the 8th grade team swept the competition with impressive skill and teamwork. We’re proud of both teams for their effort and determination—keep up the great work!

During school hours, students are expected to keep their phones, smartwatches, and headphones stored out of sight in their backpacks before entering the building and throughout the day. Personal devices are not allowed in hallways, classrooms, restrooms, or the cafeteria.

Key points to remember:

  • Students must put their phones, headphones, and smartwatches in their backpacks or purses before entering the building; devices should not be in their hands or pockets.

  • Confiscated phones must be picked up by a parent or guardian; they will not be returned directly to students.

  • Only wired headphones are permitted during instructional time, as directed by teachers. Bluetooth or wireless earbuds are prohibited for safety reasons.

  • If a parent or guardian needs to contact their student during the school day, please call the school office to have a message delivered.

ID

ID Badges

Safety is our top priority at Kleb. At the start of the school year, every student will receive a new ID badge. All students are required to wear their ID badge visibly around their neck on a lanyard, with their name and photo clearly displayed. This policy helps ensure the safety of all Klein ISD students and is part of our dress code.

If a student arrives at school without their ID badge on, they must purchase a temporary ID band for $1 at the ID station in the cafeteria before school. Consequences reset at the start of each grading period. Here is the sequence of consequences for not wearing the ID badge:

1st: Purchase temporary ID ($1), warning
2nd: Purchase temporary ID ($1), parent contact
3rd: Purchase temporary ID ($1), 1 school detention
4th: Purchase temporary ID ($1), 2 school detentions
5th: Purchase temporary ID ($1), 3 school detentions OR 1 Saturday school
6th: Purchase permanent ID ($5), 1 day in-school suspension (ISS)
Additional Offenses: Considered major non-compliance

Kleb administration reserves the right to adjust consequences as needed.

Please be advised that the dress code will be enforced starting from day one. Some important points to remember include: no head coverings, hats, bandanas, or similar items are allowed; all shirts and shorts must be of appropriate length.

Please refer to the Student Handbook [here] for our dress code guidelines. To help maintain a positive and respectful school environment, students are expected to follow the dress code. If the dress code is not followed, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with the student code of conduct.

No Fast Food or Food Deliveries

Please note that fast food items and food deliveries will not be allowed or accepted during the school day.

Students may bring water bottles with closed lids to school. Please make sure the lids are securely closed to prevent spills.
