Hey Hofius families!
We’re so excited for our annual Glow Party fundraiser hosted by the PTO! This is one of the most loved events of the year, and it helps raise funds for programs, events, and experiences that make Hofius such a special place for our students.
To make it a glowing success, we need all the help we can get! Below are two Signup Genius links — one for donations and one for volunteer spots. Whether you can send in snacks or help at the event, every contribution makes a big difference.
Our goal is to have all spots filled by the end of this week, so let’s do this, Hawks!

To help ALL students fully engage with our reading and math intervention and mastery platforms, EACH student will need to bring a pair of corded (non-Bluetooth) headphones to school. These programs include interactive lessons, read-aloud features, and personalized practice that require students to listen carefully without distraction. Having headphones will ensure your child can work independently and stay focused. Please make sure your child brings their headphones as soon as possible so they can begin using these tools effectively. |

Bus Riders
All bus riders will be dropped off in the bus parking lot and will have the opportunity to eat breakfast before class. For safety, please do not use the bus parking lot for student drop-off or pick-up, as this area is reserved for buses only.
Not sure which bus your student will ride? Click here to find Bus Information.
Car Riders
To ensure safety for all students, morning car rider drop-off will take place at the front of the school in the designated, coned-off area. Vehicles may not drop off students in any other location. Students should exit vehicles only from the curbside lane, and the outside lane in front of the building is reserved for drivers pulling around to exit.
Car riders may enter the building through the designated front doors beginning at 8:30 am, when staff are on duty to welcome students. For your child’s safety, please plan drop-off for 8:30 am or later, as there is no supervision prior to that time.
All Students
Once students enter the building at 8:30 am, they may choose to eat breakfast in the cafeteria or go to their designated area until the dismissal bell. Students may only go to a classroom before first period if they have a Tutorials pass. All students will be released to their 1st period class at the 8:50 am bell.
The designated areas are as follows:
6th Graders: In the main gym (enter the first door closest to the front of the building)
7th Graders: In the main gym (enter the second door closest to the cafeteria)
8th Graders: In the cafeteria

All students will be dismissed from their 7th period class at the 4:15 pm bell.
Bus Riders
All bus riders will access their buses through the bus parking lot located off the cafeteria. Upon entering the cafeteria, students should sit at the table assigned to their bus number and watch the Bus Dismissal slide deck for updates. When their bus arrives, students will exit the cafeteria and board in an orderly and safe manner.

Car Riders
Car Riders and Walkers Picked Up in Car Line or Hofius Parking Lot
Car riders being picked up at the front of Hofius will exit through the front doors and wait outside on the porch for their car. Parents have the option of parking in the Hofius parking lot to wait for their student. Parents who park will exit their vehicle and wait for their student to be escorted across the car line by a Hofius staff member. Students who are walking across West Rayford Road, will wait on the grass in front of the school until 4:30 or when dismissal traffic has diminished. When Hofius staff has determined that traffic has diminished enough to be safe, walkers will be escorted to the edge of school property and allowed to cross West Rayford Road. Hofius does not endorse students walking, but as secondary students, we cannot restrict students from walking to various locations after school. We do monitor that they use the correct walkways as they exit campus.
Car Riders and Walkers Heading to Metzler
Walkers and car riders that head to Metzler are allowed to go out the side door near the cafeteria. A Hofius staff member will meet all these students and escort them across the car line to Metzler at approximately 4:20 pm. Hofius does not endorse students walking, but as secondary students, we cannot restrict students from walking to various locations after school. We do monitor that they use the correct walkways as they exit campus.
For safety reasons, students may not cut through the traffic lines or the bus parking lot on the stadium side of campus.

In alignment with House Bill 1481, a new state law taking full effect in the 2025–2026 school year, students may bring personal communication devices to school, but they must be turned off, out of sight, and stored away in their backpack, pocket, laptop sleeve, or other personal belongings while on school grounds from the time they enter the building at 8:30 am to the time they leave the building in the afternoons, including during class, passing periods, and lunch.
The law requires schools to issue disciplinary consequences for using personal communication devices during the instructional day. However, students with a Section 504 plan or IEP that includes device use as an accommodation will be allowed access as outlined in their individual plans.
Before the first day of school, we encourage you to talk with your children about this new Texas law and stress the importance of staying focused on learning during the school day.
To help students build this habit:
2nd Offense: Consequences may include a combination of disciplinary measures up to and including Lunch Detention, After School, or Before School Detention, and Parent Contact
***Students who refuse to turn in their device(s) to the administrator will immediately receive additional consequences at the discretion of the administrator.
***Students who no show their disciplinary consequence or fail to attend will receive additional disciplinary consequences at the discretion of the administrator.

Parents, please remind your students to wear their ID badges every day!
Students are required to wear their ID badge around their neck at all times during the school day. IDs are necessary for purchasing lunch, checking out library books, riding the bus, and more. Students who repeatedly fail to wear their ID will receive consequences.
To help students build this habit:
ID Replacement Fees:
Wearing an ID throughout the entire day is an important part of our campus expectations. Thank you for partnering with us to help keep our school safe and support student accountability!

We will be following the Klein ISD dress code as outlined in the Student Handbook.
We appreciate your support in ensuring that all students adhere to our dress code. Please ensure that students come to campus dressed appropriately. Shirts should be long enough to cover midriffs, and skirts and shorts should not be too short or revealing and should remain at the appropriate length throughout the day. Clothing should stay within dress code without needing adjustments after moving. Additionally, please remember that holes in pants should not excessively revealing, and no undergarments should be exposed. Leggings or shorts may be worn underneath pants to cover exposed areas. Shirts with inappropriate language or references to alcohol or drugs are not allowed. We kindly ask that you talk with your students about selecting clothing that stays in dress code throughout the day. Thank you for your cooperation!

Attendance
The academic success of EVERY student at Hofius Intermediate is extremely important to us. Daily school attendance and arriving to each class on time are critical for your student's success. We ask that you be diligent in monitoring your student for regular school attendance. Arriving to school late or leaving early may count as an absence for that class period. You can help in the following ways:
Speak to your child about the importance of attendance and arriving to school on time every day.
Post the school calendar, and plan your vacations and appointments outside of school time.
Regularly monitor your child's attendance through Klein ISD's Family Access (Skyward).
Report absences to the school in a timely manner. Within five days of returning to school, a student who is absent because of a personal illness must bring a statement from a parent , doctor, or health clinic verifying the illness or condition that caused the student’s absence from school.
Communicate with the campus regarding any attendance concern.
Tardies
Our expectations is for our Hofius students to be in class on time and prepared and ready to learn! Students are tardy to class if they arrive after the tardy bell. Students are subject to disciplinary action for tardiness. If students arrive to class after 15 minutes, then the student is marked ABSENT and is subject to additional disciplinary action.
Disciplinary Consequences for Tardies (tardies reset every 3 weeks)
1st and 2nd Offenses: Warnings
3rd Offense: Warning and parent phone call home
4th Offense: Before School Detention or 2 days of lunch detention
5th Offense: In School Suspension

All transportation changes must be submitted to the Grade Level Assistant Principal's Secretary by 2:00 pm.

Students must use their ID badge for all cafeteria transactions. Scanning their badge allows the system to track account activity, giving parents access to a detailed record of items purchased. This process also helps speed up the lunch line, making it more efficient for everyone.
