Jaguars Journey

Dear Families,

Welcome to a stellar year in our new space! We are thrilled to launch into a year full of reading adventures. Here are a few important reminders and updates from the library:

The Importance of Reading Every Day
Just 15–20 minutes of daily reading can make a huge difference in your child’s vocabulary, imagination, and love of learning. Help your child blast off into new worlds by encouraging daily reading at home!

Library Books
Please help your child keep track of their library books. Having a special spot at home for library books can help avoid lost or damaged books. Students in K-3 visit the library weekly.  PreK students, fourth and fifth graders visit the library every other week. We started book checkout last week, so be on the lookout for books.

Library Return Day
Each grade has a scheduled library day when books should be returned and new ones can be checked out. Please mark your child’s library day on your family calendar!

  • PreK- Every other Thursday

  • Kindergarten/ Access - Thursday

  • 1st Grade - Wednesday

  • 2nd Grade - Monday

  • 3rd Grade - Friday

  • 4th and 5th Grade - Alternating Tuesdays

Additionally, 4th and 5th grade students can check out any morning before school.

Self Check Out

In a few weeks, when all of our library computers are installed, we will offer self check out before school, and throughout the day for students in grades 2-5.

Sora – Digital Reading
In addition to physical books, students have access to Sora, our online library app on their Klein ISD dashboard. Through Sora, students can borrow eBooks and audiobooks anytime, anywhere—perfect for car rides, bedtime, or on the go!

Upcoming Library Dates

  • Oct. 31st Book Character Parade

  • Oct. 31-Nov. 7 Fall Book Fair

Thank you for supporting your child’s reading journey. Together, we can help every student reach for the stars!

Happy Reading,
Rachel Newberry
