Happy New Year Fox Families! |
Welcome back! While the weather may be a bit chilly outside, inside our school we will be filled with warmth as we welcome students back from the winter break. We hope each and every one of you had a fantastic time with family and friends. We are excited to begin the new year with our Cubs. As we reflect on our fall semester, we are proud of the progress and success each of our Cubs demonstrated as they collaborated with peers during science labs, followed their curiosity through student-led research, and met goals by learning all their sight words and math facts.
We are so grateful to serve all the students, parents, and staff who bring joy to us on a daily basis. We are ready to make 2026 another year filled with success, but we know that this requires us all working together- students, teachers, staff, families, and administrators. Working together, we can ensure every student has a successful year! Cub Hugs, Ms. Combs |
Building Habits for Success |
Setting goals with your child around our campus learner dispositions is a powerful way to support their growth both in and out of the classroom. When students understand and practice skills like curiosity, problem solving, perseverance, risk taking with learning, collaboration, and self-reflection, they become more confident and independent learners. Talking with your child about these dispositions and setting simple goals together helps reinforce their importance, builds positive habits, and strengthens the connection between home and school. Small, consistent conversations can make a big impact on your child’s success.

Daily attendance plays a critical role in your child’s learning and progress. Please remember to notify the front office when your child is absent and submit an absence note through Skyward Family Access within five days. Our campus attendance committee regularly reviews attendance data for students with 18 or more unexcused absences, as guidelines indicate these students may be subject to retention. The committee carefully reviews each case to determine whether absences have impacted student learning. Thank you for partnering with us to support strong attendance and student success.
Tardies Arriving at school on time is important for your child’s learning and a smooth start to the day. School doors open at 7:45 a.m., and on cooler mornings, doors open earlier at 7:35 a.m. Students who arrive after 8:05 a.m. are considered tardy. Thank you for helping your child start each day on time and ready to learn.

| Incredibly Thankful for YOU! |
You all pulled it off!!!! Thank you parents and PTO for the time, care, and joy you poured into making the class winter parties so special. The parties were a huge hit and the students really enjoyed themselves. Seeing our student's faces as they laugh, cheer, and enjoy each other during the winter parties was priceless. Thank you for your time and generosity; it is truly appreciated. |

Dressing for the Weather As temperatures drop, please be sure your child is dressed appropriately for colder and fluctuating weather. We plan to go outside for recess whenever possible, so students should wear a coat and/or layers to stay warm and comfortable. As a general guideline, when the temperature (including wind chill) is 40°F or below, students will not go outside for recess.
Lost & Found Our Lost and Found is quickly filling up! Please put your child's name on coat tags so they can be easily returned if found. We encourage you to take a moment to check the Lost and Found the next time you are on campus. You might just find a missing item your child has been looking for!
Thank you for helping us keep everyone cozy, healthy, and ready to enjoy time outdoors! |

Fox Elementary fifth grade students will have the opportunity to visit the intermediate school in which they are zoned. The visits will take place on January 28 (Hildebrandt) and 29 (Schindewolf & Krimmel). This visit is for students only.
While at Hildebrandt, Krimmel, or Schindewolf students will hear presentations from the Theatre Arts, Band, Art, and Choir departments. The purpose of the visit is to expose students to the intermediate environment and to help students make informed decisions for next year. Permission slips were sent home in December, please be sure to return them to your child's teacher.

Helping Your Child Shine Every Day |
|
|
All third quarter Family Curriculum Guides have been added on the Klein ISD website for grades K-8 for core content in English and Spanish. These guides outline what your child will learn during the third quarter, provide helpful questions to ask your child, share ways you can support learning at home, and include tools to help set your child up for success.
Technology Available for Home Use The student dashboard is available for your child to access at home.
Amira (Literacy development)- AI-powered reading tutor designed to improve literacy and foundational skills for K-2. Amira tailors its support to meet your child’s individual needs, which is why it’s important for your child to complete Amira activities independently.
While it might feel natural to want to assist your child during these sessions, providing help can unintentionally affect the results. Amira works best when it can accurately identify areas where your child might need additional practice. If an adult provides answers or guidance, it could skew the results and miss opportunities to fill in critical learning gaps. Use 10 minutes a couple days a week.
Waggle (Math and Reading)- Helps students strengthen their math and reading skills. Encourage your child to use Waggle regularly (e.g., 15–20 minutes two times a week) to maintain steady progress and reinforce learning. Recognize and celebrate the milestones your child achieves in the platform to boost confidence and motivation.
IXL or Read/Math 180- Our third, fourth, and fifth-grade students have access to IXL or Read/Math 180 to support their learning. We recommend about 20 minutes per day, which is the ideal amount of time to maximize growth without overwhelming students.
Fact Track- Helps students with Fact Fluency. Fact fluency is essential for math success. When students can quickly recall basic math facts, they can focus on problem-solving and reasoning instead of stopping to calculate. This builds confidence, reduces frustration, and supports success with more complex math as they grow. |
