Dear Doerre Families,
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and found some time to rest and recharge. As we begin another important STAAR testing week, we are excited to support our students as they show all they have learned this year.
Last Friday provided our staff with valuable time to prepare, collaborate, and ensure everything is in place for a successful testing season. We are grateful for that time and for the dedication our teachers continue to show each day.
As we move through the remainder of the semester, we remain committed to maintaining a positive mindset and strong partnerships with our students and families. It truly is all about perspective—there is so much to celebrate here at Doerre, and when we focus on our shared vision for student success, it helps guide everything we do.
Thank you for your continued support—we are proud of our students and all they are accomplishing!
Annie Welday-Zimney Principal, Doerre Intermediate

Expectations Update- Q4 Behavior |
As we move further into the fourth quarter, we’ve begun to notice an increase in some off-task and unsafe behaviors, including excessive running, shouting, and horseplay in the hallways, as well as larger messes and food throwing in the cafeteria. We are also seeing an increase in students removing their IDs as the day progresses.
Beginning Monday, we will be implementing a campus-wide reset to reinforce our expectations. We ask that you take a moment this weekend to review these expectations with your student. These guidelines are in place not only to maintain a positive school environment, but also to ensure the safety of all students and staff.
Given that we are in the final quarter of the school year and these expectations are shared daily on the morning announcements, students who do not meet expectations will receive immediate consequences. In most cases, this will include a lunch detention (an assigned lunch location away from friends), unless the behavior is more significant and requires additional intervention.
At the same time, we want to recognize and celebrate the overwhelming majority of our students who consistently meet expectations. Approximately 95% of our students are doing the right thing, all day, every day, and we are incredibly thankful for their commitment to making our campus a positive place.
To celebrate these students, we will be implementing a Fun Friday incentive each Friday during the month of May, tied to positive behavior. More information about this will be shared in next week’s Arrow.
We greatly appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these expectations at home. Should your student demonstrate repeated behaviors that need to be addressed, we will be sure to communicate with you directly.
We are confident that, working together, we can maintain a safe, structured, and positive environment as we finish the year strong. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to one of our assistant principals, Ms. Andrews, our behavior specialist, or Ms. WZ directly.
Thank you for your continued support.

Spring Pictures- April 20th |
Klein ISD is no longer partnering with Lifetouch for picture retakes. As a result of some recent updates and adjustments in communication regarding this change, Doerre has scheduled an additional picture retake day with Strawbridge to ensure our students still have this opportunity. Spring Pictures will be by pre-order only and students who sign up will be called down from their classes to take their pictures throughout the day.
Picture retakes will take place on April 20, and we’re excited to partner with Strawbridge to make this a smooth experience for our families. Please see the information below for details on how to order Spring Pictures!

Staffing Update! A-F Alpha Assistant Principal |
On Monday, March 23, Mr. Brendon Bell transitioned to Wunderlich Intermediate to serve as the Dean of Students! While we are incredibly sad to see him go, we are grateful for his time and contributions to our campus. For the past four weeks, Ms. Janie Elmore has been serving as our substitute assistant principal for the A-F alpha. Ms. Elmore will be helping in the A-F office until April 17th.
Beginning April 20th, another Klein ISD retired Administrator, Mr. Steven Ilten, silten@kleinisd.net, will be joining Doerre for the next four weeks as the A-F Assistant Principal.

Math STAAR Review Under Way!

Math STAAR Review Underway
Our Math STAAR review has officially begun! Students have received a personalized document titled “(Student Name) Math Benchmark Data,” which includes their benchmark scores along with direct links to targeted practice for each skill area. These resources are designed to help students focus on their individual areas of need and build confidence as we approach the STAAR assessment.
It will look like the image below.
We encourage students to take advantage of this tool both in class and at home. Spending a little extra time reviewing and practicing these skills can make a big difference in their progress and performance.

Students did an awesome job with their first STAAR test last week! This week, testing continues students in Math grades 6-8. Students taking Algebra I will test on April 28 and should report to the new gym on April 22. See the schedule below for more information. All other students will follow a normal bell schedule this week.
A few notes about testing:
-For the ELA STAAR and the Math STAAR, students will eat a silent lunch to accommodate testing and ensure that students have the most time available to take their exams. All students will be given the opportunity to go through the lunch lines. Sack lunches are also encouraged.
- Please refrain from scheduling morning doctor's appointments on these dates. Schedules will be similar to the benchmark testing schedule from last month.
-Testing room assignments will be posted for students in Schoology. These rooms are mostly the same as the rooms assigned for MAP testing.
-Please remind your student to charge their Chromebook before testing and to get a good night's rest!
-Students are allowed to bring a healthy snack and water to have during testing.
Future testing dates-
April 14- 8th Grade SS STCAAR
April 15- 8th Grade Science STAAR and Biology EOC
April 22- 6-8 Math STAAR
April 28- Algebra I EOC STAAR

To ensure all students are safely supervised, we do not student allow entry unless their teacher is present. Between 8:00 and 8:25, students can enter the building for tutorials through the secondary front door (the entrance nearest the handicap parking spots). Students must present their student ID and sign in, indicating where they will attend. Students will only be permitted to attend tutorials for teachers who have marked themselves present.
Here is the tutorial schedule for the 25-26 school year: Doerre Tutorial Schedule. Once the teacher arrives, they will turn their name green on this sheet, and our tutorial door greeter will know to let those students in for tutorials. Teacher AM Tutoring Check-In Sheet
After 8:25, students will not be able to enter the building until the bell rings at 8:35, allowing our staff time to prepare for the school day and report to their morning duty stations.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding!
