| Dear Doerre Families, We hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend!
This week will be a busy one on campus as students prepare for our first benchmark test on Wednesday. Please take a moment to review the information below from Ms. Mullins so you are aware of the details and can help your child feel prepared and confident going into the day.
During Character Ed on Monday, we will also be reviewing campus expectations, including our dress code, as we transition into the spring semester. In addition, we are excited to begin rolling out our Gold Standard initiative, which focuses on reinforcing high expectations for behavior, effort, and overall student excellence. We appreciate your support in helping us maintain these standards.
You will also see information about a change to our PRIDE schedule beginning Monday, March 2. This adjustment will allow STAAR-tested teachers additional time with their students to review key concepts and provide targeted support leading up to the Spring STAAR exams. More details about this change can be found in the PRIDE section below.
As always, please let us know if you have any questions. We appreciate your partnership and look forward to a great week ahead! Annie Welday-Zimney Principal, Doerre Intermediate |

Expectations Reset including Dress Code |
On Monday during Character Ed, we will be taking time to review student expectations as we head into the spring semester, including a reminder about our dress code. This is the time of year when we transition back to warm-weather clothing, and we often notice that some of the items that fit in August no longer fit appropriately and may now be too short or too tight.
We ask that you please take a few moments to ensure your child’s clothing adheres to our campus dress code guidelines. For your convenience, the original dress code letter shared at the beginning of the year is linked below for review.
As we move into the week, students will be given opportunities to make adjustments if needed. However, repeated or chronic dress code infractions may begin to result in consequences. We appreciate your partnership in helping us maintain a focused and respectful learning environment for all students.
Doerre Back to School Dress Code Letter **Parents- Specifically, there is a popular shirt style that is backless that many of the students are wearing. This shirt is allowed, but students must wear it with a tank top underneath.
Thank you for your continued support and for working alongside us to ensure our students represent themselves and our school community with pride! |

The Doerre "Gold Standard"
|
In addition to resetting dress code expectations, we are working to ensure that students are following our expectations for IDs and tardies. Beginning last week, we started a new initiative called the Doerre "Gold Standard." At random times throughout the week, one expectation will be announced over the intercom. Once the expectation is called, classes will check for 100% participation in that standard. If every student in the class is meeting the expectation, the teacher will place their Gold Standard card outside of the classroom door and the entire class will be rewarded with Liveschool points for the school student. This initiative encourages teamwork, accountability, and pride in doing things the right way-- every student, every time.
We already started this initiative on Friday and are proud to say that most of our classes were able to meet the standard! |

The next few weeks, Doerre will be completing District Benchmark testing. Look in next week's edition of The Arrow for an alternate bell schedule for testing days. February 25- 6-8 ELA Benchmark Test March 3- 8th Grade Social Studies Benchmark Test March 4- 8th Grade Science/Biology Benchmark Test March 10- 6-8 Math Benchmark Test March 11- Algebra I Benchmark Test
Our first benchmark will take place this Wednesday, February 25 with English Language Arts/Reading. Students in grades 6 through 8 will be testing. See the tentative bell schedule below. Note- Because the Benchmark tests are longer than QSEs, we will be having a "silent lunch" on Wednesday. Students will be given the opportunity to go to the cafeteria to get a lunch and will take their lunch to the testing room to eat. Students are also encouraged to bring their own lunch on Benchmark testing days as well as STAAR testing days.
A few notes about testing: -Testing room assignments have been posted for students in Schoology. These rooms are mostly the same as the rooms assigned for MAP testing. -Please remind your student to charge their Chromebook before testing and to get a good night's rest! -Students are allowed to bring a healthy snack and water to have during testing.

To ensure all students are safely supervised, we do not student allow entry unless their teacher is present. Between 8:00 and 8:25, students can enter the building for tutorials through the secondary front door (the entrance nearest the handicap parking spots). Students must present their student ID and sign in, indicating where they will attend. Students will only be permitted to attend tutorials for teachers who have marked themselves present.
Here is the tutorial schedule for the 25-26 school year: Doerre Tutorial Schedule. Once the teacher arrives, they will turn their name green on this sheet, and our tutorial door greeter will know to let those students in for tutorials. Teacher AM Tutoring Check-In Sheet
After 8:25, students will not be able to enter the building until the bell rings at 8:35, allowing our staff time to prepare for the school day and report to their morning duty stations. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding! |

2025-2026 PRIDE Expectations
|
PRIDE UPDATE-
Beginning Monday, March 2, we will be shifting to a rotation-style PRIDE format during STAAR Prep Season. This adjustment will allow STAAR-tested teachers to see their classes at least two additional times (and in some cases three) prior to the Spring STAAR exam. This extra time will provide valuable opportunities for targeted review lessons, small group instruction, and focused skill practice.
Students will continue to attend their regular PRIDE on Mondays for Character Ed and the PRIDE Prep Checklist. Please note that 4th Period is not included in the rotation, as it is already 10 minutes longer than other class periods each day and has additional time built in.
Thank you for being open and flexible as we make this adjustment to better support our students. We will return to our normal PRIDE schedule after STAAR is complete in May. For the full schedule details, please check the calendar below. STAAR Prep PRIDE Calendar
Monday, February 23- Character Ed & Pride Prep Checklist Tuesday, February 24- Homework day Wednesday, February 25- No PRIDE-Benchmark Testing Thursday, February 26- Reading Waggle/Flex Friday, February 27- Write with PRIDE, Math Waggle/Flex
