April 13-April 17

WZ

Good afternoon, Doerre families,

I want to start by sharing how proud we are of our students for the outstanding effort they showed during their first STAAR test last week. Their focus and determination truly reflected their hard work.

This week, testing continues with Science and Social Studies. Please take a moment to review the information below to help your child be prepared and set up for success. We also look forward to a well-deserved break for students with no school this Friday.

On Monday, please join us in celebrating the Klein Cain Hurricanes who clenched their second consecutive state soccer championship over the weekend! We have several former Doerre Warriors on that winning team and want to show our support by wearing purple! We encourage everyone to join in on the celebration.

Thank you for your continued support—let’s make it a great week, Warriors!

Annie Welday-Zimney
Principal, Doerre Intermediate

Expectations Update- NeeDohs

We want to make families aware of an update regarding “Needohs” (small fidget toys- see image below) on campus. Over the past few weeks, these items have increasingly become a distraction to the learning environment. In addition, we have had several instances where students have broken them open and spread the sticky material inside on restroom and classroom surfaces.

To help maintain a focused and respectful learning space, students are now being asked to refrain from using Needohs during the school day. They may keep them in their backpacks, but they should not be taken out during the instructional school day. If a student has a Needoh out during class time, teachers have been instructed to confiscate it, and the item will be returned at the end of the school day.

If concerns persist, we will reach out to families to discuss next steps and possible consequences. We appreciate your support in reinforcing these expectations and helping us keep our campus clean and focused on learning.

Spring Pictures- April 20th

Klein ISD is no longer partnering with Lifetouch for picture retakes. As a result of some recent updates and adjustments in communication regarding this change, Doerre has scheduled an additional picture retake day with Strawbridge to ensure our students still have this opportunity. Spring Pictures will be by pre-order only and students who sign up will be called down from their classes to take their pictures throughout the day.

Picture retakes will take place on April 20, and we’re excited to partner with Strawbridge to make this a smooth experience for our families. Please see the information below for details on how to order Spring Pictures!

Staffing Update! A-F Alpha Assistant Principal

On Monday, March 23, Mr. Brendon Bell transitioned to Wunderlich Intermediate to serve as the Dean of Students! While we are incredibly sad to see him go, we are grateful for his time and contributions to our campus. For the past four weeks, Ms. Janie Elmore has been serving as our substitute assistant principal for the A-F alpha. Ms. Elmore will be helping in the A-F office until April 17th.

Beginning April 20th, another Klein ISD retired Assistant Principal, Mr. Steven Ilten, silten@kleinisd.net, will be joining Doerre for the next four weeks as the A-F Assistant Principal.

Math STAAR Review Under Way!

Math STAAR Review Underway

Our Math STAAR review has officially begun! Students have received a personalized document titled “(Student Name) Math Benchmark Data,” which includes their benchmark scores along with direct links to targeted practice for each skill area. These resources are designed to help students focus on their individual areas of need and build confidence as we approach the STAAR assessment.

It will look like the image below.

We encourage students to take advantage of this tool both in class and at home. Spending a little extra time reviewing and practicing these skills can make a big difference in their progress and performance.

April STAAR Testing

Students did an awesome job with their first STAAR test last week! This week, testing continues for students in 8th grade Science, Biology, 7th Grade Science Advanced, and 8th Grade Social Studies. See the schedule below for more information. All other students will follow a normal bell schedule this week.

A few notes about testing:

-For the ELA STAAR and the Math STAAR, students will eat a silent lunch to accommodate testing and ensure that students have the most time available to take their exams. All students will be given the opportunity to go through the lunch lines. Sack lunches are also encouraged.

- Please refrain from scheduling morning doctor's appointments on these dates. Schedules will be similar to the benchmark testing schedule from last month.

-Testing room assignments will be posted for students in Schoology. These rooms are mostly the same as the rooms assigned for MAP testing.

-Please remind your student to charge their Chromebook before testing and to get a good night's rest!

-Students are allowed to bring a healthy snack and water to have during testing.

Future testing dates-

April 14- 8th Grade SS STCAAR

April 15- 8th Grade Science STAAR and Biology EOC

April 22- 6-8 Math STAAR

April 28- Algebra I EOC STAAR

Doerre Daily Announcements

Did your student hear something on the announcements and can’t remember all the details? HERE is a link to the daily announcements that are read each day during first period.

Tutorial Schedule

Doerre Tutorial Process

To ensure all students are safely supervised, we do not student allow entry unless their teacher is present. Between 8:00 and 8:25, students can enter the building for tutorials through the secondary front door (the entrance nearest the handicap parking spots). Students must present their student ID and sign in, indicating where they will attend. Students will only be permitted to attend tutorials for teachers who have marked themselves present.

Here is the tutorial schedule for the 25-26 school year: Doerre Tutorial Schedule. Once the teacher arrives, they will turn their name green on this sheet, and our tutorial door greeter will know to let those students in for tutorials.  Teacher AM Tutoring Check-In Sheet

After 8:25, students will not be able to enter the building until the bell rings at 8:35, allowing our staff time to prepare for the school day and report to their morning duty stations.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding!

Car Rider Drop off and Pick Up Details

HERE are detailed instructions for both drop off and pick up for car riders at Doerre Intermediate. Please note, no car riders should be dropped off or picked up from the Doerre Bus lot. This area is for busses only.

Thank you for your support as we strive to make Doerre as safe as possible for our students, parents, faculty and staff. If you have any questions or concerns about morning drop off or afternoon pickup, please reach out to your child’s administrator.

PRIDE

2025-2026 PRIDE Expectations

PRIDE UPDATE-

Beginning Monday, March 2, we will be shifting to a rotation-style PRIDE format during STAAR Prep Season. This adjustment will allow STAAR-tested teachers to see their classes at least two additional times (and in some cases three) prior to the Spring STAAR exam. This extra time will provide valuable opportunities for targeted review lessons, small group instruction, and focused skill practice.

Students will continue to attend their regular PRIDE on Mondays for Character Ed and the PRIDE Prep Checklist. Please note that 4th Period is not included in the rotation, as it is already 10 minutes longer than other class periods each day and has additional time built in.

Thank you for being open and flexible as we make this adjustment to better support our students. We will return to our normal PRIDE schedule after STAAR is complete in May. For the full schedule details, please check the calendar below.
