Attendance Tips of the Month |
|
|
EVERY DAY COUNTS! Come to school ready to learn!
At Benfer, we want every student to get the most out of each school day. Just like arriving on time by 8:05 AM is important, staying the entire day is just as critical. Every minute of learning matters, and missing even small chunks of the day means missing out on key skills that help your child succeed in their grade.
⭐ When students are here all day, they grow in confidence, stay on track with their classmates, and don’t miss out on important lessons and activities!
Please remember:
If you choose to keep your child home for the day due to being sick, be sure to log into Skyward or send a note to school when they return to excuse the absence.
After 6 unexcused absences, families will be called in to review an Attendance Improvement Plan.
After 16 unexcused absences, we are required to submit truancy reports as outlined by district guidelines.
Let’s work together to make October a month of strong attendance and strong learning for all our Bobcats! 🐾

A Message from our Counselor |

January: New Beginnings with Grace and Intention
January is a time of fresh starts, reflection, and renewed intentions. Many of us set new or ongoing resolutions—such as improving our health, changing a habit, finding a new job, or growing as parents. These are meaningful goals, and brain research shows that we are more likely to be successful when we focus on small, daily commitments rather than large, overwhelming changes.
Research also tells us that giving ourselves choices, setting attainable goals, and practicing self-compassion helps our brains stay regulated, motivated, and open to learning. When we feel safe and supported—especially by ourselves—we are better able to follow through and make lasting changes.
When we accomplish a goal—yay! We celebrate, even if it’s something small or happens daily. Celebration releases positive chemicals in the brain that strengthen motivation. When we miss a commitment—oops. Instead of self-criticism, we offer ourselves grace and empathy. Pausing to reflect on what we did accomplish helps reset our thinking and supports growth.
Being clear and assertive with ourselves helps the brain stay focused. Example of assertive self-talk: “Today, I will exercise.” Example of offering choices: “I can either do weight training or go for a run. Which works best for me today?”
Whatever your goals may be this year, remember that progress happens one step at a time. I wish you well and look forward to celebrating your accomplishments—both big and small—along the way.

Klein ISD uses the SMART tag ID card system to increase student safety and allow access to campus services via easy scans.
The SMART tag system, which consists of student ID cards with barcodes and smart readers to read the cards, will allow students to
check out library books via a quick scan,
easily pay for lunch and breakfast with a swipe, and
allow families to receive bus stop notifications when their child gets on and off the bus.
By implementing this new ID card system, school staff will be able to quickly and efficiently identify anyone who should not be on campus, greatly increasing school safety.
Download the SMART Tag App Here!
|
|
|
If you need a new SMART tag, you can purchase one for $5 in the front office or on School Cash Online. |

Benfer Arrival & Dismissal Reminders |
For the safety of all students, we ask that families follow our arrival/dismissal map for drop off and pick up.
Please remember that the bus lane in the left side parking lot is reserved only for buses, day care vans, and EC/Pre-K drop-off. Please use the car rider lane when dropping children off or picking up students. If you need to use the left side parking lot for drop off, please park and walk your student into the building. When students are dropped off outside of the designated areas and allowed to walk on their own, their safety is put at risk.
Thank you for helping us keep every child safe!
